When a restart occurs, it can disrupt trading operations, especially for those who rely on trading robots. Therefore, to minimize distractions and maximize trading performance, it is highly recommended for traders to activate the auto start feature on Meta Trader. With this feature, after restarting the VPS, Meta Trader will automatically resume running without the need for manual intervention. This ensures that your trading activities continue with minimum hiccups despite interruptions on the VPS.
Note: This tutorial currently only works on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2012. Windows 10 Lite doesn't work yet.
If you previously used Windows 10 Lite, we recommend changing to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2012
The following is a tutorial so that Meta Trader automatically starts when the VPS restarts
STEP 1: Make VPS Auto Login
Netplwiz is a utility in Windows that allows the user to set up automatic login, so that the computer can log in without entering a password at boot. However, even if you set up automatic login with Netplwiz, when you try to access your computer via Remote Desktop, you will still be asked to enter your password. This ensures that there is an additional layer of security for remote access even though local logins are automated.
- open Run on windows. how can click start then run or click "run" on the taskbar.
- Type
netplwiz
and pressEnter
. - In the window that appears, uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" option.
- Click
OK
. You will be asked to enter the current password for confirmation. Enter the password and clickOK
.
STEP 2: Enter the MT4 Shortcut to the Startup Folder
- open run on windows as before
- type
shell:startup
then pressEnter
- then enter the MT4 Shortcut in the startup folder
